Box newels are usually constructed like a box, often having a hollow center and are usually square rather than turned on a Lathe. Each of our box newels are individually hand made by experienced craftsmen. Newel posts are used at the top and bottom of stairways and level runs to support the handrail. Post to post newels are used when the handrail runs between the newel posts. Each newel is available in 14 standard and custom wood species, with additional species available for quoting.  There are 3 lengths available including  34", 38", and 42". These fluted balusters are smooth sanded on all 4 sides with square edges and ready to paint (poplar) or stain. Gloss prime is available .

The LJP-2015 Regent balusters are the plain pin top version with 28" turning length and variable length bottom blocks.   This design also comes in a fluted (LJF-2015) and a twisted (LJT-2015) series.   There are matching 3-1/2" square wood newels as well.  Look for pin top and post-to-post wood newels where the part # begins with LJx-30xx.    

This is made from 3-1/2" square x 44" stock.   This is part of our Regent Plain Series. Typically in stock in poplar, red oak and maple but may require 3 business days for production time.

This newel is made from 3-1/2" square stock.
